Athletic Therapy

Certified Athletic Therapists CAT(C) are experts in treating acute and chronic injuries to muscles, bones, and joints. They follow the Sports Medicine Model of care and treat a broad range of clients from elite athletes to weekend warriors. They also work in the area of injury prevention and are considered experts in Exercise Rehabilitation. You can also find them working with National, Regional or local sports teams or at sports events providing emergency and acute care.

Areas of expertise include: 

1. Injury Prevention

2. Injury Assessment

3. Emergency and Acute Care 

4. Treatment which may include; modalities such as IFC, TENS, joint mobilization, soft tissue release, and taping. 

5. Rehabilitation, including Exercise Prescription and potential lifestyle or sport modification

The goal of an Athletic Therapist is to get you back to work, sport or play as soon as possible and in even better condition than you were pre-injury! 

Athletic Therapy Cost

Initial Assessment: $115 GST included 

Follow up 50 min: $110 GST included 

Follow up 40 min: $95 GST included 

Follow up 30 min: $80 GST included

Becoming a Certified Athletic Therapist in Canada is a stringent process: 

  1. Athletic Therapists complete the Athletic Therapy program at an accredited university or college

  2. Complete 1,200 hours of supervised on-field and in-clinic practical experience 

  3. Acquire a valid First Responder certificate 

  4. Pass the written and practical portions of the National Certification Exam

What is a clinical Exercise Physiology and High performance specialist? 

A CSEP-Clinical Exercise Physiologist: performs assessments, prescribes conditioning exercise, as well as exercise supervision, counseling and healthy lifestyle education in apparently healthy individuals and/or populations with medical conditions, functional limitations or disabilities associated with musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, metabolic, neuromuscular, and aging conditions.

High Performance Specialist: 
The first of its kind in Canada, the CSEP High Performance Specialization™ focuses on performance and occupational testing and training for qualified exercise professionals working with elite athletes, emergency services personnel, armed forces, and high performance clients.

Who can benefit? 

  • Apparently healthy individuals

  • Individuals and/or populations with medical conditions, functional limitations or disabilities associated with musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, metabolic, neuromuscular, and aging conditions.

  • Clients with chronic disease and injury

  • High performance athletes 

Eryn has over 12 years experience working one on one and in group settings with clients of all levels and abilities. In this 12 years, she has worked as a personal trainer and taught many different fitness classes. 

She also worked at Take Heart and Breathe Well (cardiac and respiratory rehabilitation) for 5 years. Here she helped people safely return to physical activity after such events as a Heart Attack, Stent, Bypass Surgery, Pacemaker implant. Clients with other conditions she has worked with include: 

COPD, PAD, Polymyalgia/Fibromyalgia, MS, Parkinsons Disease, Scoliosis, Diabetes, Stroke/TIA, and more.
